Human Factors Specialist

The purpose of this position is to lead Human Factors input to a wide range of activities within DANS (Dubai Air Navigation Services) in support of both operational and portfolio areas of the business.

Key Responsibilities

-Provide Human Factors expertise to a wide range of activities supporting both ATM development tasks and project implementation.

-Lead Human Factors input to the development and validation of ATM concepts using standard, proven methodologies

-Contribute Human Factors expertise through the whole concept life-cycle from idea & research through development, evaluation, validation, implementation and post-implementation evaluation.

-Provide Human Factors input into the design and development of Human Machine Interface for ATS systems in use at DANS

-Lead Human Error Risk Assessment for both operational and portfolio activities

-Develop User Centred Design processes to ensure that robust design principles are embedded into DANS processes and develop assurance processes

-Assess the Human Factors impacts associated with the rate of change taking place and provide recommendations as to an acceptable rate of change from an HF perspective.

-Support change management across the various DANS departments

-Investigate Human Performance of operational staff through the use of human performance modelling

-Participate in hazard analysis, risk assessment, incident investigation, requirements analysis and scenario development

-Keep abreast with latest trends & practices and maintain knowledge in ATS concepts

-Assist with other duties as requested

Knowledge

-University level qualifications in Human Factors or Ergonomics or related discipline is essential

-Master`s Degree in a field relevant to Human Factors is preferred

-Extensive knowledge of Air Traffic Services environment is essential

-Membership of a relevant professional body or chartership

-In-depth knowledge of Human Factors methodologies and tools (e.g. Hazard and operability , analysis; Hierarchical Task Analysis; NASA Task Load Index; Instantaneous Self-Assessment; Systematic Human Error Reduction and Prediction Approach; Human Error Assessment and Reduction Technique; Heuristic Evaluation; Safety analysis techniques; Physical Workspace Assessment)

-In-depth knowledge of usability engineering and testing

-Knowledge of interaction design principles

-Fluency in written and spoken English is essential

-Strong expertise in quick prototyping tools, e.g. Visio, PowerPoint and Illustrator

Experience

-A minimum 5 years` experience:

oin practicing Human Factors within an Air Traffic Services environment

oin Human Factors Integration with a strong focus on the development and validation of ATM concepts by applying standard methodologies (e.g. E-OCVM)

oin user centred design techniques, e.g. Contextual Enquiry, Thinking Aloud-based observation, Cognitive Walkthrough, Brainstorming, Focus Group and 1-to-1 Interviews

-Significant experience of:

oHuman In The Loop experiments,

oHuman Error Analysis

oHuman Reliability Assessment,

oHazard analysis,

oRisk assessment,

-Strong experience in applying Human Factors consideration through the whole concept lifecycle, from ideation and research, to development, evaluation, validation, implementation and post-implementation evaluation

-Proven ability in effectively and succinctly communicating results both in spoken and written terms.
