The RoleThe Main Purpose of the role: • To handle all purchasing for all non food items such as office equipment and machinery The main areas of responsibility: • Ensure records are maintained of goods ordered and received • Liaise with supplier to check cost of order and delivery time • Ensure items are being delivered on time • Ensure correct signatories have approved purchase order requests • Follow corporate procedures and policies to adhere to conditions set ie: different monetary values require different procedures Dimensions of the Job (targets): • Ensure items ordered arrive in specified timescale Department interaction: • Interaction with all departments for purchasing needs • Marketing for promotional items • Production for production materials Flexibility in having to carry out a range of different tasks: • Full flexibility to organize own day. Must receive Procurement Managers sign off for which supplier to use and must adhere to the timescales set by ordering department Work allocation, review and approval: • Allocated from each department through purchase orders • Reviewed and approved by Purchasing Manager Decision making authority: • None Contacts made with others: • Suppliers Tools and Equipment used: • SAP system to process all LPO’s Unusual features of the job: • None Major Problems encountered when carrying out role: • Items out of stock • Delays from suppliers • 50% of purchase is done from overseas which can add a delay |
